Interpretation[]
This suit talks about Bai Jinjin's friend Melody and Calamus (previously translated as Reed). The speaker once saw Melody and Calamus parting by the riverside and Calamus sang a song to bid Melody farewell. Afterwards, the speaker would sometimes see Calamus by the river by herself, and learned the song she sang. After Calamus's death, Melody returns to the river and the speaker sings the song for them.
