Nikki, Yoyo, and Momo with the treasure map

Before the game, Nikki lived on Earth with her cat Momo, her mother, father, and her sister Yoyo. Nikki took ballet in her childhood, and once had a part-time job. The dress she went on to wear in Miraland was a birthday gift from her mother. Her father was a photographer, and Nikki went to his exhibitions sometimes. Every year, Nikki's family would go to watch the cherry blossoms together.

Nikki's father later left and journeyed around the world in hopes of becoming a famous photographer. On Nikki's birthday one year, he sent her a mysterious map promising treasures at the end. Nikki, Yoyo, and Momo set off on a journey, traveling across the Earth to a multitude of countries and continents, and meeting a variety of friends together.

Year 680

One day, Queen Nanari of Lilith Kingdom in Miraland, a world separate from Earth, summoned Nikki in order to change the fate of that world. Nikki found herself with Momo in a small city named Wheat Field in a nation called Apple Federal. A girl called Aron introduced her to the custom of doing styling battles for fun. Bobo, from Lilith Kingdom, took notice of Nikki's skill and asked where she was from, but claimed not to believe Nikki when she said she was from another world.

Nikki, Momo, and Bobo began to travel around Wheat Field and came across Lunar, a designer from Cloud Empire, who had her designs stolen. They apprehended the girl who stole them, Mela, and Nikki beat her in a styling battle in order to win the designs back. Mela left, but warned Nikki about the Iron Rose Stylist Legion, the organization she belonged to that traveled around Miraland acquiring designs.

Nikki, Momo, and Bobo headed to Cicia, Lilith, and explored the city and theater while Nikki learned the ins and outs of styling battles. By coincidence Nikki battled against Royce, who, unbeknownst to her, was the prince of Lilith, and after he saw her skill he advised her to visit the Designer's Tea Party in Wintermount.

Nikki and her friends attended the show 'Candy Witch and Star Sea', performed by the December Troupe in Cicia's theater. While she was there, the dress Star Sea was stolen, and Nikki helped to recover the dress and apprehend the thief. Nikki returned it to the lead actress, Sofia, who thanked Nikki and commended her on her styling skills.

Upon Royce's suggestion, Nikki and her friends headed to Wintermount for the Designer's Tea Party. They walked around before it started and met Lunar again, and Nikki agreed to be the stylist for her designs. They also met a girl named Bai Jinjin, who looks just like Nikki, and her boyfriend Zhong Lizi. After a confrontation with an assassin, Nikki and her friends found out that Bai Jinjin and Zhong Lizi eloped, and that Bai Jinjin ran away from her father. The couple left the Tea Party but promised to see Nikki again.

While at the Tea Party, Nikki was approached by Kimi, the heiress of the Apple Federation Apparel Group. Kimi had noticed her natural skill at being a stylist and gave her styling advice, encouraging her to go to Cloud Empire to refine her skill.

Nikki and her friends passed through the Flower Field, an ancient and beautiful area full of illusions, on their way to Cloud. Nikki met a boy named Fu Su as well as the "mirror version" of many of her friends as they traveled towards the legendary Ancient Pavilion to meet the Ancient Pavilion Designer. Once they reached the top, they discovered that the Designer died several years ago, and that Fu Su, his apprentice, has been staying in the pavilion since. However, Fu Su tells Nikki that her fresh talent inspired him to leave the Pavilion and travel around Miraland.

Nikki and her friends reached Long Street, Cloud, and ran into Lunar again, as well as Bai Jinjin and Zhong Lizi. Nikki was surprised to see Bai Jinjin in Cloud, and unsurprisingly later found out that Bai Jinjin's family was coming after them as they caught up in an inn. Nikki decided to switch places with Bai Jinjin while the other girl escaped, which Nikki could pull off due to her styling expertise and their similar appearances. She was almost kidnapped even after admitting she wasn't Bai Jinjin, but the owner of the inn, Lu Yinian, stepped in and warded them off.

Nikki also met Nidhogg, the Prime Minister of Lilith, for the first time while on a cruise, who had also heard of her styling skills.

Nikki and her friends headed to Lunar's family shop, the Silk Shop, in Moonlit City, Cloud. Upon getting there they found out that Lunar may have been kidnapped, and that the Mayor of Moonlit City may be helping the Iron Rose steal designs and materials.

She met Orlando, a government employee of Apple Federal, who helped them apprehend the Mayor. However, they found out Lunar was safe the whole time and that the Mayor was only pretending to deceive the Iron Rose, without letting them steal anything valuable. The mayor also told Nikki that if she didn't fulfill 'the prophecy', she could be stuck in Miraland forever. The mayor added she was just joking, but suggested to Nikki that she could visit the Star Seer to learn more about the prophecy.

Orlando advised Nikki to visit the Fantasy Styling Contest in Royal City, Lilith, because he believed the Iron Rose was planning something nefarious there. Nikki enrolled in the contest and met the mysterious Fantasy Envoy and a travelling swordswoman, Ace.

Nikki participated in the group section of the Fantasy Styling Contest, with Kimi, Bobo, and Momo watching and supporting her from the audience. She passed through and proceeded to the finals with Ace and a mysterious woman named Sherry, a member of the Iron Rose. During the finals, the front row stood up and drew their swords; they were soldiers all along, and Nidhogg had staged a rebellion while trapping Royce inside the palace. Nikki frantically asked Ace what to do, and she and Ace escaped to safety.

Nikki, Ace, Bobo, and Momo escaped to the palace garden and found Royce and Neva, a member of the Lilith Royal Guard, though Queen Nanari had gone missing. They couldn't leave the castle, but they had a casket with the spirit of Lilith that they could use to send messages if they passed the styling battles. Nikki passed the battles and they managed to use the spirit to command the royal force and suppress the rebels. The casket started to spell out words, and told them that something called the Miracle Scroll was waiting in the Wasteland for the Chosen One, which they took to mean Nikki.

Nikki and her friends took a train to the Wasteland to find the Miracle Scroll and, once there, came across a boy named Tuda, the son of the Pota tribe's chief. However, he tells them a woman called Ransa had drugged the chief and taken over. Nikki helped Tuda stand up to Ransa, and Nikki beat her in a styling battle for him. After the Chief woke up, they found out Ransa was part of the Iron Rose.

Right before Nikki and her friends were about to reach the entrance of the forest that held the Miracle Scroll, they received word from Amphithea News that Nidhogg was attacking Cloud City, where Lunar was. Nikki and her friends made the difficult decision to leave the Wasteland, going first to Rosset City on a train to try and find a way to Cloud City. Unfortunately, the rail lines had been shut down, but Nikki ran across Zhong Lizi who let them onto a military train.

Nikki headed into Cloud City with the help of an Apple journalist named Cali by going through a sewer. They arrived to see Lunar and Nidhogg facing off in a duel, and Nidhogg stabbed Lunar. Nikki, filled with despair, didn't know what to do, but Bobo explained the existence of a blood curse that meant Nidhogg was weakened after committing an act of violence. Nikki got up and began to battle Nidhogg, but she could not win because he had a skill that reduced her styling score at the last minute.

Suddenly, the Iron Rose appeared on the order of Princess Elle, the Pigeon queen. They gave Nikki a sword called the Dawnblade, and she used it successfully against Nidhogg. Finally he left, and Nikki watched Louie carry off Lunar's body, though she did not recognize him.

Nikki, her friends, and the Iron Rose flew to Lor River City, Cloud. While in the palace of the neglectful and lazy General Huo, Nikki met Zhong Lizi and Zhu Ruosheng, the military adviser. She found out from them that there was an old friend waiting for them in the woods, and Nikki, Bobo, and Momo headed out in the night.

They met up with Kimi and Orlando, and found out that Apple Federal had joined forces with Nidhogg's League Tyr against Cloud, and that Joe and Kimi's father were captured. Nikki tried to convince Orlando to stay via styling battle, but he beat her and leaves, dedicated to Apple. Nikki and Kimi discussed their next move, and they decided to go to Apple Federal in order to investigate what happened to the Apple Federation Apparel Group.

After arriving in Welton, Nikki and her friends learned about the White Blossom Banquet, where Reid and Charles planned to showcase the dress Kimi's father made for her mother, the White Blossom. Kimi, believing the banquet could have something to do with her father's kidnappers, convinced Joe to get them invitations and invited Nikki to go with her while she's in disguise.

At the banquet, Nikki helped drive up the prices of the auction items and provided support for Kimi. Reid invited Kimi to dance, and she had no choice but to accept his offer. Nikki watched as Kimi's hairband fell out, compromising her disguise, and Reid kissed Kimi in front of everybody. The next thing she knew, there was a blackout and when the lights came back on, the White Blossom was gone.

Nikki and her friends tried to apprehend the person they believed was the thief, who, unbeknownst to them, is actually Sofia stealing the White Blossom back. Sofia used a special score-switching skill on them, and even when Nikki blocked the skill, Sofia got away, much to their dismay.

The police came to question the partygoers at the banquet, but the White Blossom did not turn up, and Nikki accompanied Kimi out to find Joe and see if they could learn more about the situation. After spotting a helicopter, Nikki and her friends met up with Orlando and Sofia, who revealed the truth, spiraling into a series of realizations including the fact that Hiber was the true thief, Reid had betrayed Kimi, and Kimi's father had not been kidnapped at all. After a heated confrontation that resulted in the death of Charles, Nikki and her friends decided to accompany Kimi to Losol to find her father.

They accompanied Orlando on a quick stop to a League Tyr outpost outside of the city, but things went south when the League Tyr officer Ozeca and the assassin Shade entered. Nikki tried to escape with the White Blossom dress, but Bobo knocked over some racks, alerting them to their presence. Nikki only escaped because of Shade's unwillingness to shoot them, and shaken, she and the others went to a Losol church to stay safe. While they were there, Bobo left during the night, to Nikki's surprise the next morning.

Unfortunately, Nikki, Kimi, and Momo were drugged while they were at the church, and when they woke up they and the White Blossom were on a plane programmed to fly to the North Kingdom. They arrived, and Kimi decided to hand White Blossom over to Nidhogg in return for being brought back safely, but Nikki refused to let her give it up. Nidhogg took out his sword and nearly killed Nikki, but she was saved by Louie at the last minute, and was pulled away by Ace and Debbie.

They arrived on the Iron Rose Airship, where Orlando contacted them via the communicator. He told them to search for information about Sayet in Rolterdan. Kimi gave her the Crystal Butterfly Ring designed by Sayet, and they parted ways.

After Kimi and Debbie left, Nikki, Momo, and Ace visited the Ash Tree Institute of Design. Nikki noticed a gap in the timeline of Sayet’s works, alongside a pattern repeated after the skip. The president of the Institute told them he talked with Bobo recently and lent them a pair of butterfly earrings.

They went to Bobo’s house and found it neglected, aside from a series of footprints. Nikki spotted a dress design with Sayet’s signature alongside a poem praising the True King. Ace told Nikki his story - that he brought peace to Miraland, ended up assassinated by his followers, and created the Blood Curse through his death. Ace attended to a personal matter, and Nikki and Momo received a message from Royce calling them to the Royal City.

Upon arriving, Nikki asked the spirit of Lilith more about the True King. She saw the truth of the True King - that he was a tyrant who destroyed the freedom of his people. When Royce brought out a chest made by Sayet, she entered a mirage of Sayet crafting a metallic butterfly. His phantom told her to complete the poem hidden in the rosebud.

Royce advised them to attend an exhibition of one of Sayet’s designs, the Aurora’s Tear, in Cicia. The host, Clariel, offered an opportunity to view the necklace up close after defeating her in a styling battle. Though many stylists, including one of Nikki’s friends, Nancy, attempted to beat her, they all lost and had their memories destroyed. With the help of Ace, Nikki traveled through their memories and freed them. Nancy opened up about the Nine-Day War - her boyfriend competed but became closed off after losing. Nikki promised to search for ways to save the memories of stylists who had been affected.

Nikki and Momo, escorted by Ransa, investigated inside the Kingdom Monastery. She informed her about the disbandment of the Iron Rose after they failed to find the materials for King Sayet’s design. Noah appeared to warn Nikki that Queen Elle knew the secret of the relics. They arrived at the castle to ask the Queen what he said, but the guards apprehended them.

Nikki and Momo attempted to escape but were distracted by an inscription about elves and dwarves. They reached the top of the tower, where the Rose Chest was, but were betrayed by Sherry and thrown back in. Debbie broke them out and promised to deliver a message from Eli to Ace. After being caught again, Ace confronted Queen Elle and leaped out from the window, Nikki and Momo in tow. Nikki reformed the Iron Rose with herself as the leader, and they all promised to search for the secret of the relics.

Nikki and Mela rode a boat to the Stele Forest, but their guide, Sylver, suddenly disappeared. Kyle, a Kindred disguised as an elf, attacked her, but Mela was able to apprehend him. She forced him to escort them to the guardian of the Forest, Elaine. After reading the Memory of Time, Nikki found out that the reflection of the stars on the inscription meant Lake Bolvary. When they arrived, they realized that they were actually in Shadow City, though Chloris was able to save them just in time. Nikki realized that the memories and the secret of the Kindred were the treasures.

Elaine guided them back to Pigeon Forest, where they saw a gravely weakened Chloris. While they were going to Stele Forest, Chloris used the last of his power to protect them from an attacker. While waiting for him to heal, Rachel, the sister of Elaine, told them about when Sayet and his senior, the Ancient Pavillion Designer, entered the Forest. Debbie told them about the dwarf chief of Plata, who could help recover Chloris.

However, before Nikki could go there, Xiao Zong appeared. He threatened her to travel back to the Nine-Day War to fight for the Rose Chest, but she refused. After defeating him in a styling battle, Nikki was pulled into an illusion of the War, where she saw the tragic memories of the contestants. She despaired, believing that she thought vainly of herself as a savior, but chose to acknowledge all of the memories of Miraland.

Afterward, they departed to Plata, one of the two places where dwarfs resided. Nikki learned of their history: they were enslaved by the humans and were only liberated because of a king. Chief Andrew believed the dwarves should move from the Pigeon Forest to prevent another tragedy. However, his friend Hewt thought cooperating with humans was the best strategy. Nikki convinced Andrew to give her a fruit from the Tree of Life, and Debbie returned to Chloris.

After promising Andrew to search for Hewt, Nikki and her friends ended up at the Mist Sand Tribe, where they reunited with Tuda. She learned that Hewt had died long ago but left behind a message. While at his hut, they watched an expedition heading towards Stardust Remains, a revered temple. Chenxi, a Ruin native, led the voyage. He explained the origin of his country and allowed her to meet with Berta, the leader of Ruin Island. She encouraged her to follow the path in her heart into the unknown.

While returning to Plata, Nikki suddenly fell into a dream with all her friends, even Lunar. The day looped, and she became trapped in her memories. She confronted Bobo, the only abnormality from day to day, who eerily told her to stay asleep. Suddenly awakened, Nikki and Momo found Kimi and Ace and freed them from their memories. They went to Cloud City and discovered a mirage of Lunar but were interrupted by a possessed Bobo. The True King, inside her body, mocked them for trying to save Miraland. Nikki reached out to hug Bobo, but she disappeared before they could reunite.

Nikki decided the best way to free everyone was to continue pursuing the truth behind Sayet. She headed back to Plata and gave what she found to him. The crystal sealed with the message became an image of Hewt, and the dwarves finally understood each other. A frangipani symbolizing the memories of the dwarves bloomed, and Nikki realized she found the last part of Sayet’s design.

Suddenly, the possessed Bobo appeared. The True King showed Nikki the memories of Bobo, from how her father died, how she came to work under the Lord, how she staged their meeting, and how she realized the Lord deceived her. He tried to convince her of his ways, but she rejected them, choosing to believe in the good of Miraland. Nikki found Bobo despairing over her uselessness but encouraged her to find her inner strength. Bobo used the crown of the Enlightened alongside the other two treasures to send power towards Sayet’s works and created a design, completing the poem. They promised each other that they would meet again before Bobo disappeared.

Nikki and Momo traveled to Apple to support Kimi during her upcoming presidential campaign speech. However, a note sent by Reid warned her not to continue. Despite Orlando’s best attempts, a sniper infiltrated the venue and shot at Kimi but missed. Even though she put on a brave face, the assassination attempt shocked Kimi, leading to Nikki comforting her.

Nikki and Momo delivered Kimi’s package to Harrod. They reunited with Kane, a designer they met at the Tea Party, now a member of the Allied Army fighting against League Tyr. Her paranoid behavior concerned Nikki, but she met with Agata, the leader of the forces. Based on Kane’s erratic behavior and Agata’s melancholy, she concluded that there was a force affecting emotions, pinpointing it to be a necklace a student had. Suddenly, League Tyre, led by Ozeca, showed up and demanded the necklace back, to which Agata complied.

Ace sent a message to Nikki and Momo to come to Pigeon Kingdom. However, Elle was asleep and unable to wake up. Ace and Nikki attempted to travel through her memories of the Nine-Day War. Ace brought out the Lily Chest, and Nikki went into a vision. She met Sayet, who congratulated her on completing the poem. He told a story of Xiao Zong and him as youths, finding the True King’s dove brooch from the heavens. Nikki turned back time to the Nine-Day War and competed as Hostess L, knowing that she could not change what happened that day. Once she obtained the Rose Chest containing the brooch, Xiao Zong appeared to demand she give it to him. Nikki used his weakness, his denial of his love for the Flower Field, to defeat him.

Despite her effort, Elle was still asleep. Ace suggested bringing her to the monastery of their youth. Nikki learned about the Oriental religion, which believed the blessed would travel to the East once they died. Once Elle woke up, she brushed Nikki aside and left with Ace.

Nikki and Momo found the Pigeon Kingdom in political turmoil, on the brink of a revolution. They realized this was because of the arrest of Duke Acheson, a politician who advocated for the lower class. Elle and Ace broke free from the villagers who kidnapped them, and Elle swore to destroy those who opposed her.

Nikki visited Nancy to ask her about her progress in finding a solution to the memory problems. She gave Nikki a sunflower bracelet created by a support group for the families of those affected. Nikki went into the castle, where Ace and Sherry met with Elle. After Elle ordered the execution of her kidnappers, Ace gave Nikki the Thorn Chest, the source of the stolen memories. After using the bracelet, the memories of the stylists were returned once and for all. They rushed over to see a kinder Elle, who created a fairer solution to expose the corruption of her uncle, who orchestrated it all. Elle thanked her for her contribution to herself and the kingdom.

Later, a prophet named Starlet told Nikki about the effects of the Blood Curse on Miraland - that it was the only thing preventing negative emotions from destroying the world. She decided to write news articles about this, which caused Bai Yongxi to summon her to the Capital. He informed her that Zhu Yuxian and Xiao Zong met with League Tyre to attempt to break the Blood Curse. Agata helped infiltrate the camp, and Nikki broke into a room with Bobo and Nidhogg. He was performing the ceremony when the True King sent down the Curse on him. Xiao Zong, taking advantage of the situation, tried to steal the dove brooch but was stopped by Nikki. She carried Bobo's body out of the camp and into the night.

Eventually, Nanari called Nikki to the Royal City, where she searched for a person named Nolwenn. When Nanari suddenly disappeared, Nikki went back to Nolwenn’s time to see a group of innocent artists about to be killed. Nolwenn used her marionette, Luna, to defend them, though the process left her exhausted. She traveled to her time to see Nanari possessed by Luna, who was obsessed with her because she reminded her of her master. A memory of Nolwenn appeared and reminded Luna that she would always protect people, even if it slowly killed her. Luna was exorcised from Nanari's body. This event, alongside a dream of Lunar, encouraged Nikki to search for people who have inherited the wills of those called Guardians.
