Hi Chris! I hope you're doing well and it's great to see you on the wiki again!! I was actually writing about some of the item descriptions you've done. Most of them are great, but some are actually... a bit too long? Which it doesn't seem like there could be such a thing as too long, but we're trying to keep a few factors in mind here: 1, for pages to have a similar level of detail/consistency rather than some being much longer than others, and 2, for text to not overwhelm readers and just tell them what they need to know about the item (obviously this isn't just the case for items, but for every page eg lore). It's only somewhat recently that we started taking item appearances into consideration (within past 6 months or so) but I know you're not active on the discord so I wanted to give you a heads up lolol cause I don't want you to waste a lot of effort writing super long descriptions! (Ex. of what I mean is like going into detail about individual lines on an item etc.)
This is me telling you now! We really haven't been looking that closely at it, so it hasn't been even close to our #1 concern, especially since longer item descriptions are still preferable to shorter ones. If you want to write more, then so be it, as long as it isn't an issue going forward!
Yeah, basically that, or, if you're not sure/in doubt, don't stress about getting every last detail (tho understandable if you enjoy it!). Really, most of them you've been doing are perfect and it's obviously subjective, it's not like there is actually a word limit lmao!
I'm not sure if you know, but the Pages that need improvement category contains quite some pages without appearance description that could use your help. The category is added by the coming soon template, so just remove the coming soon to remove the page from the category.
Hi, I'm here requesting for the admin role. After playing this game for a long time, and I also have a lot of free time, I want to contribute to the wiki. Since I don't know much about editing the fandom (templates, etc.) I could only put in some text. However, I would really like to help out more. If you accept this or not, I would ask you to comment on my page on how I could contribute more in order to gain this role.
Well, right now we have a couple Admin and I'm not sure we need more, I've been inactive as of late (something I've been planning on changing though) but we seem to be fine. But I don't suppose there's any harm in at least considering it...
When we look for an Admin who isn't doing the "behind the scenes stuff" (templates, beautifying the wiki, etc), we want to see a hardworker who does a lot of edits, so that we know they're a serious and active user, and we have to get to know this person a bit. We don't want to grant someone Admin and have them go crazy with power you know? XD or be a jerk to other members. The person also has to be willing to communicate with other Admin before doing anything really major to the wiki.
So in saying this, I would like to wait a little while so that we can see how you operate, because from what I saw, your edits aren't bad but you're a new member, and I think you need more time and experience.
Heya! Kuhlau has requested for admin. I'm certain you already know this but Kuhlau is our moderator who has contributed to the wiki a long time now and she's basically responsible for almost anything that has to do with lore. ShadowQuxxn and I have approved of her since she's been on the team for so long and poured so much into the wiki, so if you can make her an admin, that'd be great :D
I noticed that Special:Community isn't enabled for this wiki and I wanted to ask if you would be interested in enabling it. The Community page essentially acts as a hub where new and recent editors can see what pages or content needs attention to, and it also has an easy listing of who the staff are. Most of it can be customized so you can direct editors to the right places. What are your thoughts?
It looks good, I never knew it was easy to turn on! We currently have a category called Category:Tasks that lists this kind of information, hopefully some of it can be incorporated into the community feature as I read it can support categories. Especially since some of the pages automatically listed as needing additions are actually complete, they are just short. :D
Category:Stubs should definitely be included, aa it encompasses pages that are pretty much empty
Category:Pages that need improvement is for any pages that are incomplete or need regular additions. An example is Levels since we can't know all of the information about levels without having users manually input it. Anything in this category is probably really easy for a new editor to add to since the base of the page is already created and there is info to go off of, it just needs more info.
Category:No image speaks for itself! (sometimes the page may be incorrectly labeled as having an image by Wiki, because of images of currency/attributes being used in templates, so this is more accurate than using the automatic wiki function)
So, as I don't believe I have the capability to add those categories myself to the community feature, perhaps you or another admin that happens to read this could help~ it would make it much more reflective of our current needs!
Hey Chrismh! There's something I want to talk about with you privately. Do you know if there's a way we can do that? I know you don't use discord so I was thinking if there was any other alternatives ><
Hi Chris! My name is Shrev, and I’m the Fandom Wiki Manager for Love Nikki-Dress UP Queen! Wiki. I am here to help the community and be a liaison to full-time Fandom staff. If you ever have a question or issue relating to the wiki, editing, styling, infoboxes, templates, etc., please feel free to contact me on my message wall, or on Discord at Shrev64#0089.
I was wondering if I could be a Content Mod. This would be handy for me as I do a lot with images. I would be able to rename images if I'm uploading a new version anyway, as some names are unpractical, like the screenshot random number ones. I am also online a lot, so I'm often the first to discover that someone stole an image from elsewhere, so I would be able to delete it right away without having to wait for someone else to do it. I also sometimes clean up the unused files, that would also be easier if I could just delete them.
Well, we did just take on another person as a content moderator... but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have another one either, and you do have a lot of edits. I don't think there would be any harm in it, as long as you make sure to talk to the user to avoid any confusion or issues down the line if necessary.
Hello, I recently joined this wiki and have been delighted at the cleanliness of it.
I know that I have been here less than a day but I would like to request Content Mod status to help with clean up and moderating. I've been an admin and bureaucrat of other wikis for about 2 years, so I am trust worth.
There are some small things here and there that I'd like to fix/ touch up. I know the normal practice is to notify a mod but I usually prefer to do it myself instead of messaging mods for various little things I come across. That's not to say this wiki is actually messy! It's just tiny little things like file names.
Either way, I'd understand if you decline my request; respond when you can!
That's great to hear x3 we worked very hard for like... the past year or so now to make it what it is today. I haven't been around very much as of late but we have a lot of users still continuing to see to it that it remains that way.
Anyway, I don't see any harm in that. You seem to know what you're doing, and if you've had experience then that already helps with the decision. I accept the request.
Thank you very much! The only other thing I was going to ask is: Would it be alright to add the price of items into the infobox instead of writting it in the intro? I can edit the infobox source if yes.
Hey hey! Not to butt in or anything, but that'd be a pretty big format change that would require changing thousands of pages, especially given that not all items have a price and some have even had multiples over the course of the game (considering event currency, etc). I know you are content mod now (congrats and I greatly appreciate the help, especially given the state of our filenames lol), but for now it'd be best to address a major change like that kind of thing in a blog post or something similar, so that all of our vv hardworking active page editors can weigh in :D
I understand, I'm used to being an admin and initiating large changes and seeing to them myself (I hate burdening people with monotonous work) That's not to say I can't work with others, I'm just used to doing things by myself as most of the wikis I'm part of aren't as active as this one.
Should it be a blog post on my own page? (I don't really use the blog thing unless for self-reminders) Is there a chat/forum/discord server for mods and admins I could propose my idea to?
I totally understand where you're coming from :D We do have a Discord, though it's for any editors (+ anyone else who plays the game and wants to hang out, but we have channels dedicated to the wiki). The blog posts are just under Blog:Recent posts, so it shows as being by your account by default but it's not on "your page" per se.
Kuhlau is working on a clothing name compilation for, y'know, rl clothes as it's tricky what the Asian garbs are called for instance (Hanfu/Hanbok/Kimono/Yukata etc etc). It will definitely be handy for clothing descriptions! Right now it's WIP but if you want to help out you're welcome to do so :D
Oh, thanks for letting me know. When I get a chance I'll take a look XD it seems like every time I try returning here something comes up somewhere else, or something happens in my house or around it that I need to deal with.
