Interpretation
Ink Carp is about a koi fish who wishes to be by its master's side, who is a painter. It loves seeing them paint and always sees them alone. In comparison however, it is but a mere fish, soon to forget everything due to its short memory span.
Footnotes
[1] Oblivion Soup refers to the concoction Meng Po—the Lady of Forgetfulness in Chinese mythology—creates: "Five Flavored Tea of Forgetfulness". It is given to each soul to drink before they leave Diyu, the Chinese realm of the dead, to reincarnate. The brew induces instant and permanent amnesia, and all memory of other lives is lost.
