The original version of the suit describes the Cloud Empress and Bai Yongxi. Bai Yongxi taught the empress to play chess, though he never played against her. She became an exceptionally good chess player, though she ran into an issue one day. She searched all the chess books for the answer, but couldn't find it. Then she watched Bai Yongxi play a game of chess against himself, and she found the answer to her problem.
The red and black recolor describes Xiao Zong's adventures and wild, carefree lifestyle: sword-fighting enemies, drinking wine, and travelling through the wilderness. These events possibly could have taken place during the period of time before he met the boy who he mentored.
