The suit itself is based on the Higanbana flower, also known as the equinox flower or red spider lily. The Higanbana flower is associated with death and the coming of fall, and is planted on graves in Japan as a tribute to the dead.
The suit descriptions describe the legend of the Lethe river, which is one of five rivers in the underworld. It is said that each time a Higanbana flower blossoms, it means another separation between life and death, and people walk on the flowers by the Lethe river as they travel to the underworld.
The woman described in the suit, Higanbana, is a love envoy who has seen love die a thousand times.
