In the corridor of the train station, snow fell down on to the red bricks of the road, and it was immediately shaped into footsteps by a pair of leather shoes. Running all the way to the train, Yingyingxue was thinking about the last date she had with Leon.
He didn't say a word even after the movie was over. Their past, which had been once considered as sweet memories by Yingyingxue, was bringing her doubt now, as she couldn't even find one single evidence that would prove their relationship. Was that her misunderstanding?
The train was about to start and the whistle sounded like a sigh to her.
'Don't go, don't...' With anxiety filling her mind, Yingyingxue couldn't help but repeated these words. She has been here to see Leon off many times, but this was the first time Leon didn't tell her about his departure. She had a strong feeling that Leon would never be back again if she missed him this time.
The wheels were started, and she finally saw Leon's figure. However, all of a sudden, the snow became so cold that even her courage was frozen. The fact was, nothing would be different even if she ran with all her strength, as she was not able to speak. The train already started, and she would have to watch him leave like a fool.
No oral words could clarify her feelings for him, not to mention written ones. He was out of a mute's league, she thought.
However, before she gave up, the whistle rang again, as if it was inspiring her to get back on her feet. With her heart being filled with courage again, Yingyingxue started running, trying to squeeze a sound from her voice.
She was not mute now. The grand whistle was helping her speak her mind, connecting the two of them through the increasing distance.
She spared no effort to chase the train. Even if her hat was blown away, she was still running forwards and reached out her hands, which, however, didn't manage to catch Leon's. But that was enough, actually, as she saw surprise and tears in his eyes. She knew the barrier between them was swept away, even if there was not a word.
He knew what she wanted to say.
Finally she stopped, with a note sent by the wind.
Farewell.

She knew what he wanted to say as well, and that he would come back soon, as he had someone to care about now.
