Yvette, on behalf of Lilith, requested a joint arrest warrant for Nidhogg from the Court of Seven Kingdoms! And the assistant appointed by the acting Prime Minister to support Yvette turned out to be the exceptional Ivetta...
(Year 680, New Era, Acting Prime Minister's Office, Lilith Kingdom)
Yvette: Good morning, Prime Minister. My name is Yvette. It's my first day working as a diplomat today. I come to check in.
Acting Prime Minister: Yvette? Weren't you... Nidhogg's secretary?
Yvette: ...Yes, but it won't affect my work here!
Acting Prime Minister: Hmm... I see, go to check in.
Yvette: Yes, sir...
(Yvette turns to leave, but overhears the Prime Minister speaking to himself, or intentionally speaking loud enough to be overheard.)
Acting Prime Minister: Nidhogg... It seems there has been little progress in dealing with his rebellion...
(Yvette hesitates for a moment, then summons the courage to look back to Acting Prime Minister.)
Yvette: Prime Minister! I... I was too slow to notice Nidhogg's moves... If there is anything I can help with, please just ask!
Acting Prime Minister: Hmm... This incident has been postponed for a while, but Lilith has yet to recover from the wound and we are really short-handed...
(The Acting Prime Minister rubs his chin and frowns, looking worried.)
Acting Prime Minister: If only we could get a joint arrest warrant against Nidhogg from the Court of Seven Kingdoms. They have their own enforcement department after all...
Yvette: The Court of Seven Kingdoms...
Acting Prime Minister: Hmm... Yvette, can I task you with the job to negotiate with the Court of Seven Kingdoms? You know Nidhogg much better than everyone else. This should save some manpower.
Yvette: Such a crucial task... You'll entrust it to me?
Yvette: ... I'll do my best!
Acting Prime Minister: Take this as the first test. You will have full power over this! Tomorrow, I will give you a group of staff to assist you.
Yvette: Thank you, Prime Minister! I won't let you down!
(The next day, just as Yvette sits down at her desk, she hears a knock at the door.)
Yvette: Come in!
Red-haired Girl: (Enters the office) Hello! My name is Ivetta, Secretary to the Acting Prime Minister. I will be your assistant for this assignment.
Yvette: Hi!
Yvette: (Thoughtfully) I have a feeling that... I have heard your name before...
Ivetta: Is it because our names are similar?
Yvette: Oh! I remember now!... It's because my sister talked about you this morning...
(That morning, Yvette was having her breakfast and Kiki was reading a newspaper.)
Kiki: Wow, look at this girl Ivetta!
Yvette: What about her?
Kiki: (Passes the paper) See? She's studied in many famous academies across Miraland and earned many degrees! How funny that you have similar names but such different abilities!
(Stunned by the extensive list of design academies Ivetta graduated from, Yvette reads to the end of the story)
('Despite Ivetta's many achievements, she still keeps moving forward. After returning to Lilith, she chose to take the civil service examination, and passed!')
('In an interview, she claims she wants to be a civil servant to 'enrich her life experiences.')
(Back in the office, Yvette looks across her desk at Ivetta)
Yvette: I didn't know that you'd register for the Secretary of Acting Prime Minister...
Ivetta: Miss Yvette, you also served as secretary to the Prime Minister, so I would have much to learn from you in the future.
Yvette: I... I think I'm the one to say that...
(Excellent as she is, Ivetta's modesty humbles Yvette.)
Yvette: But why did the Prime Minister appoint you to be my assistant?
Ivetta: I have submitted an application to serve as a judge for the Court of Seven Kingdoms. There will be some assessments, so I want to learn all I can about the court.
Ivetta: When I heard you were going to make a case against Nidhogg to the court, I immediately sent my request to assist you to the Acting Prime Minister.
Yvette: A judge... in the Court of Seven Kingdoms! You're incredible!
Yvette: Well, I wish you all the best, and I can't wait to start our cooperation.
Ivetta: Same to you!
(The two girls smile as they shake hands.)

(On behalf of Lilith, Yvette submits an indictment against Nidhogg to the Court. A task force is assembled to discuss follow-up action and work division.)
Diplomat A: Too huge is the loss Nidhogg brought to Lilith! We must nail the case and bring Nidhogg to justice!
Diplomat B: Yes! Not only economical damage but also spiritual. He must apologize to the people of Lilith Kingdom!
(The atmosphere of the meeting grows tense as everyone discusses how to best deal with Nidhogg, but no one gets to the topic of winning the case on Court of Seven Kingdoms.)
Try to discuss it with everyone.
Ask right away
(Yvette, after several failed tries to bring the discussion back to the right course, stands up to speak loudly.)
Yvette: Thank you for all the proposals, but this is the end of the topic. We should get onto the indictment!
Yvette: (Loudly) By the agenda, let's start with the plan of trial. The other problems will be addressed later.
(The meeting falls into silent as Yvette finishes her speech. The diplomats now lower their heads and glance at people sitting beside them.)
Diplomat C: Nidhogg has made himself a common enemy to seven kingdoms. Do we still need the warrant of the Court of Seven Kingdoms?
Yvette: The court has its own enforcement department. They will provide powerful support to the apprehension of Nidhogg.
Diplomat D: Miss Yvette was the secretary of Nidhogg, you know him the best, so your plan must be the most effective. We have other matters to attend to. You can finish the details yourself.
(The meeting is dismissed in a loud echo of agreement. From the corridor comes the chatting of the coworkers.)
Diplomat A: Anyone wants steaks for dinner? It's been quite a while.
Diplomat B: Yeah! I know a new shop. We could have a try there!
Diplomat C: And maybe some drinks afterward?
Diplomat D: A man after my own heart, hahaha!
(Yvette is left alone in the meeting room.)
(Taking a deep breath, she pats herself on the face and gets to work.)
(After several nights, Yvette finishes her plan. The Court of Seven Kingdoms accepts the case after the initial examination. Yvette and Ivetta come to the Security Agency.)
(Yvette runs a thorough checking of the exhibit list and bags them carefully.)
Yvette: (Whispers) Notebook... the No.87 file... the agenda...
Yvette: Ivetta, can you pass me that schedule over there?
Ivetta: (Passes it to Yvette) You should be pretty familiar with these items, right?
Yvette: Yes, quite familiar actually. This schedule, for example; I would check it several times a day.
Ivetta: Seeing these things must make you feel sad. After all, so many things have changed...
Yvette: I would if it was in the past. But, not anymore.
Yvette: Only the weak will bury herself in the past. Place the sorrow and regret deep in your heart so that you can move on.
(Ivetta is indeed a capable worker. Together they finish the checking work quickly.)
(Yvette and Ivetta come out of the Security Agency. The sun shines down on the broad avenue. Yvette looks down the street, then at Ivetta)
Yvette: (I'll work very hard. After all, I have such a good partner!)
Ivetta: Our clothes got all dusty and wrinkly after sorting so many objects...
Yvette: Let's change into something neat and formal before we report to the Acting Prime Minister.
(As Yvette and Ivetta walk out of the conference building after finishing their report to Acting Prime Minister. [sic] On the road, they overhear two men talking.)
Passerby: Did you hear it? Princess Royce [sic] succeeds to the throne because Queen Nanari has gone missing!
Stranger B: What?! The Queen is missing?! No kidding!?
Passerby: It's true! It's said that she was kidnapped by Nidhogg during the rebellion!
Stranger B: That Nidhogg! I knew from the moment I saw his lying face that he was no good! And to think he was our Prime Minister... disgusting!
Passerby: It's true that he is a traitor, but he did a lot of good prior to that... I'm sure he has his own reasons...
Stranger B: You are speaking for him? He is scum; just look at what he's done to Lilith!
Passerby: You're right, I just thought... Forget it...
(Yvette stops as she sees the two walking away. Ivetta stops too.)
Ivetta: Yvette, why did you follow him?
Yvette: To tell you the truth, he was nothing like what they just described when he was Prime Minister.
Yvette: When you see him, you know he is capable of doing anything. He is serious when it comes to business but he's kind to people around. I really admired him when he was Prime Minister.
(Yvette lets out a sigh.)
Yvette: But Nidhogg is no more what he was. We've chosen different paths.
Yvette: No matter what happens, I will always remain loyal to Lilith.
(Yvette keeps walking and doesn't notice the weird smile on Ivetta's face.)

(On the eve of the trial, Yvette is attentively reading a book on a late train to the Court of Seven Kingdoms, but Ivetta looks a little nervous.)
Yvette: (Closes the book) Hoo! Finally finished it. It's been some time since I read a book so quietly.
(The train stops at a small station during the trip. Yvette stands up to go have dinner.)
Yvette: It's dinnertime, Ivetta!
Ivetta: I think I'll have some fresh air outside instead.
(Ivetta runs out of the compartment and doesn't return until the train restarts.)
Yvette: You're back! I brought you some meal!... Hey, what's that?
Ivetta: (Glances at the envelope and quickly stuffs it into her pocket) Oh, just a letter from my family.
Yvette: Oh...
Yvette: (...That seal! The seal on the envelope!)
(The letter concerns Yvette so much that she gets up at midnight and steals the letter from Ivetta's coat.)
Yvette: (This seal... I was right, it's a letter from League Tyr!)
(Yvette presses a hand to her chest, her heart nearly pounding out of her chest. She trembles as she opens the letter)
Yvette: (It bears Nidhogg's signature! Ivetta is corresponding with Nidhogg?!)
(Yvette is so surprised that she stands up, and the noise seems to wake up Ivetta, who was sleeping in the bunk above.)
Yvette: (Oh no... what do I do?)
Pretend you're sleeping
Hide under the bed.
(Ivetta leans over the edge of her bunk and finds Yvette in a deep slumber. She looks around and, after finding everything looks normal, she falls to sleep again.)
(At first, Yvette hides under the bed, but then she realizes if Ivetta finds her bed is empty, wouldn't she be totally exposed!?)
(But Ivetta just turns over and goes back to sleep. A false alarm)
(Yvette lets out a quiet sigh of relief, and begins to read the letter as quickly as she can.)
Yvette: (...obtain a false identity in Lilith... pass the exam to enter the Court of the Seven Kingdoms as a judge... influence the judgement of seven kingdoms...)
(The writings of Nidhogg in the letter elaborate the plan, giving one order after another to Ivetta. Yvette cannot believe her eyes!)
Yvette: (But no matter what you want... I won't let you have it!)
(In the Court of Seven Kingdoms, the case against Nidhogg is presented. The head judge asks that the representative of Lilith Kingdom states her claim and reasons.)
(Yvette stands up, and requests on behalf of Lilith to obtain a joint arrest warrant for Nidhogg. She talks about Nidhogg's rebellion, and the threat he poses to the whole Miraland.)
(Yvette made all possible preparations for this trial and presented her case clearly and concisely. Before sitting down, however, she makes another statement.)
Yvette: In addition, Your Honor, I have another indictment to submit to you, right here and now if possible.
Yvette: On behalf of the Lilith Kingdom, I would like to formally request that the Court also issues a joint arrest warrant for the secretary of Lilith's Acting Prime Minister, Ivetta!
(Hot discussions are stirred in the court. Yvette submits the statement to the judge while Ivetta is brought to the defendant stand.)
Yvette: Using a false identity, Ivetta infiltrated the Lilith government with the hope of becoming a judge in the Court of Seven Kingdoms to assist Nidhogg in realizing his schemes!
Yvette: (Takes out a letter and hands it to the bailiff) Your Honor, I present to you irrefutable evidence of Ivetta's correspondence with Nidhogg of the League Tyr.
Judge: (After reading the letter) Defendant Ivetta, do you have any objections?
Ivetta: Your Honor, it's quite obvious that this letter is a forgery.
Yvette: Objection! I worked as Nidhogg's secretary for a very long time; there's no way I could mistake this handwriting for anyone else's!
Yvette: Your Honor, Nidhogg and I came to you before with other matters in the past; surely you recognize his signature?
(Ivetta smiles upon hearing these words, as though she has been waiting for this moment all along.)
Ivetta: I don't doubt you are most familiar with Nidhogg's signature... but not only because you worked together.
Ivetta: (Ivetta promptly takes out a recorder pen. She plays back Yvette's comment full of adoration for the traitor of Lilith Kingdom.)
('When you see him, you know he is capable of doing anything. He is serious when it comes to business but he's kind to people around.')
('I really admired him when he was Prime Minister.')
(The recording stops, cutting off the rest of Yvette's statement.)
(Yvette, visibly aghast, looks at Ivetta but finds only contempt in her eyes.)
(The recording is like throwing a bomb into the court! Even the jury starts talking.)
Yvette: No! This recording has been tampered with!
Yvette: I said those things, it's true... but it was in admiration of Nidhogg's merit and accomplishments during his tenure as Prime Minister! I'm certain others feel the same, as well!
Yvette: But now, as he has betrayed the Lilith Kingdom, I feel nothing but the desire to bring him to justice!
(A clamor from within the courtroom overwhelms Yvette's speech.)
(The Lilith ambassadors scoff at Yvette's defense, still convinced that she is the one who's colluding with Nidhogg.)
Diplomat A: Think about it... Long has she been working with Nidhogg. She may have been helping him long ago!
Diplomat B: When the rebellion broke out, she went to North with Nidhogg and returned unharmed! That's reason enough to suspect her!
(The diplomats become increasingly restless as they express their suspicions, going so far as to call for Yvette's apprehension!)
Judge: (Slams the gavel) Order, order! Yvette, what do you have to say?
Yvette: Your Honor, I swear I am not a traitor to the Lilith Kingdom!
Judge: Have you any proof of your innocence?
Yvette: ... You don't need evidence to prove one's innocence.
Judge: The recording is against you.
Yvette: But it cannot prove anything at all.
Judge: Then I'll take it that you have no evidence?
(Yvette opens her mouth but no words come out. She finally realizes that no one is on her side in this courtroom.)
Judge: Escort her to the defendant stand.
(There is a buzzing sound in Yvette's head. Never has she suffered such humiliation. Her vision begins to blur, but she doesn't cry. Standing tall, she shouts with all her strength.)
Yvette: Yes, I am guilty! Guilty of admiring and respecting Nidhogg, just like every single one of you in this courtroom. But I will not betray my past, for that would be the worst crime!
(Her words cut into their hearts like a sword, raising their ire.)

World in Sweet Sleep
(The court is shaken by Yvette's statement so much that the judge calls for a recess. Yvette and Ivetta are both escorted to the detention cells of the Court of Seven Kingdoms)
(Behind bars, Ivetta inspects Yvette with contempt, completely different from who she was.)
(Yvette stares back at Ivetta through red, puffy eyes. She bites her teeth to hold back the tears.)
Ivetta: Don't look at me like that. It's you who get us here.
... It's my fault?
This is your conspiracy!
Ivetta: If it weren't for you, our mission would already be complete. You thought you would be a hero, but you really think everyone is as naive as you?
Yvette: I...
Ivetta: (Sneer) Pity. You think too highly of yourself. I made the recording just in case... We put no effort to deal with you in our plan because you are not even worth it.
Ivetta: You're not just naive, you're a hopeless idiot. You were doomed to fail, right from the start. Apprehend the Colonel? That's far beyond you, the Miraland to tell the truth.
Ivetta: Do you get it now? Nobody is on your side, and nobody is coming to save you. Only a stupid, little child believes so shamelessly in others.
Ivetta: 'Remain loyal to Lilith'? A country where nobody cares about you?
Ivetta: You dream too much and see too little. You can never defeat me.
(Ivetta draws closer to Yvette, twirling Yvette's hair in her fingers.)
Ivetta: Everything will change tomorrow, so enjoy your last, peaceful night.
(The light in Yvette's eyes begins to fade. Ivetta turns back to her.)
(That evening, the North Kingdom sends a request to the Court of Seven Kingdoms, asking that they transfer Ivetta back for domestic processing. The request is approved.)
Ivetta: (Whispers to Yvette) The Colonel has come to save me. Where is your Prime Minister now?
(Ivetta looks at the unresponsive Yvette and sneers.)
Ozeca: I'll bid you farewell, then. By the way, my real name is Ozeca and I will fight by Colonel Nidhogg's side in the future as a soldier of Snow Eagle Legion.
(A few days passed, but the Court of Seven Kingdoms has yet to bring Yvette to trial. There is no message from the Lilith Kingdom either.)
(The prison is so dim, like the attic of Yvette's old house. And Yvette is the broken doll left unnoticed in the attic.)
(She has nothing to do but think about those complicated matters over and over again until her head aches.)
(Yvette looks around. The deserted prison feels even lonelier in the night.)
Yvette: (The real villain was let go... while I'm still imprisoned here without knowing when I can be free...)
('The Colonel has come to save me. Where is your Prime Minister now?')
(Thinking back on Ozeca's words and the court's incompetence makes her grit her teeth in anger and tremble slightly.)
Yvette: What's the good of a powerful enforcement department? It will only become a tool for the villain!)
Yvette: (...Am I the villain compared with League Tyr?)
('Long has she been working with Nidhogg. She may have been helping him long ago!')
('Enough to suspect her!')
Yvette: (No... it's not true! I didn't do anything harmful to the Lilith Kingdom!)
Yvette: (Why don't they trust me! Is there anyone who trusts me in Lilith?)
(Yvette is on the edge of crying under the weight of her grief. She huddles in a corner and her hands grasp the clothes tightly.)
Yvette: (Everyone only pretends to be just and righteous, but they hide like cowards at the first sign of trouble!)
Yvette: (Who will stop League Tyr? Who will protect Lilith...?)
(Yvette's grip slackens.)
Yvette: (For what have I been working so hard?...)
(Moonlight filters through the bars of her tiny window and shines on Yvette. For a long time, she just sits there.)
Yvette: (If working hard alone won't work... What else can I do?)
('Only a stupid, little child believes so shamelessly in others...')
Yvette: She's right... What am I thinking about? Relying on others... ridiculous...)
Yvette: (I can only rely on myself.)
(The sky begins to brighten. Yvette clenches her fist in the fading darkness.)

(The snow in North is picking up. Nidhogg stands by the window, lost in the thought.)
(Ozeca rushes into the room, letting in the chilly northern wind.)
Ozeca: M...my deepest thanks, Colonel! I swear I won't make such stupid mistakes again. I'm willing to accept any punishment for failing to enter the Court of Seven Kingdoms!
Nidhogg: What happened?
Ozeca: It was my mistake that Yvette found the letter from Colonel.
Nidhogg: ... Yvette? The Yvette I know?
Ozeca: Yes, and she requests your apprehension on the Court of Seven Kingdoms... But she herself is now imprisoned in the cell of the court and Lilith has not taken action.
Nidhogg: ...
Ozeca: ... Is there anything we should do?
Keep following
No
Nidhogg: Continue watching the situation. Report to me instantly if anything happens. Do not take any action on your own.
Nidhogg: No.
Ozeca: Yes.
(Ozeca leaves. Nidhogg is alone in the room and outside are the wind and snow that never stop in the North.)
