Year 676[]

During this year, Bobo and her father went to the snowy mountains in North on vacation.[4]

Year 677[]

Bobo's Birthday[]

Before Bobo's thirteenth birthday, Bobo's father had to rush back, presumably from his job, in order to make it in time, taking the earliest train he possibly could. He dressed up as a stuffed bear to surprise her, but he had no time to go out and purchase her a present. This upset Bobo, who saw this as breaking a promise to her. He promised to make it up to her soon, and when she heard this they continued with the birthday celebrations.[1]

Before they ate Bobo's birthday cake, Bobo's father pulled out an old drawing Bobo had made for him when she was little. It showed her, her father, and her mother holding hands, with the caption "My happy family". They reminisced on the memory, though Bobo deemed the picture "bad" and didn't understand why he kept it.[5]

Bobo's father later followed through on his promise and gave Bobo her birthday gift.[4]

Renieve Snowpeaks[]

Unknown to Bobo or her father, two men were watching through the house's window during the birthday party, and they planned to set Bobo up for a "test".[5] It is suggested that this test resulted in what happened next.

Following her birthday, Bobo's father continued to leave and return for various work trips. A month after her birthday, in late June, he returned only for a day before being called away on an unusual mission. This mission was to hand-deliver a precious design to a client, a reclusive stylist, in the snowy Renieve Snowpeaks of Pigeon Kingdom. Bobo's father was perplexed by the request, but felt confident in his ability to carry it out.[4]

Bobo asked to go, wanting to see the snowpeaks and take pictures. She even supplied a dubious legend about seeing a white bear in the Renieve Snowpeaks as a reason she wanted to go. Bobo's father eventually agreed.[4] Several days later, Bobo's father rented a snowmobile and they set off into the mountains.[6]

Halfway there, Bobo grew tired and cold, and Bobo's father wrapped her in his jacket so she could sleep warmly. However, it wasn't long before another snowmobile braked in front of them, and Bobo's father was forced to make a sharp turn, throwing them both off. Bobo's father was angry at the stranger who had just appeared, but he ignored his words. Instead, the stranger simply demanded Bobo's father hand over the design. Bobo's father tried to hide it, but the stranger grabbed it from behind him.[6] Bobo's father darted forwards to try and retrieve it, but the stranger just kicked him.[7]

Bobo's father maintained that he had no design, and demanded his bag back. But when he didn't move, the stranger pulled out his gun and shot Bobo's father. He staggered back before being shot again and falling in the snow, where he began to bleed out.[7]

Guardian Bear (Spirit)

With his last words, Bobo's father gave her one last present: a stuffed white bear, to fulfill Bobo's desire to see a white bear in the mountains. Bobo was heartbroken as she watched her father die, unable to save him. After he died, the strange man took the design from his bag and got up to leave.[8]

Bobo went on to confront the man, only to be almost shot before being unexpectedly saved by Noah.[9] However, years later she discovered that Noah had been lying to her as far back as this moment, leading her to realize that her father's death may have been a setup.[10]

Bobo's father loved his daughter and did his best to do anything for her, however difficult it may be. He cherished her old drawings, gave her gifts, took her places with him, and listened to her demands even though they weren't always reasonable. Bobo was deeply affected by his death.
